Please join us in celebrating Don Douglas and Melissa Remington, two individuals whose contributions to Westbrook baseball have left a lasting mark on our community.

Don Douglas has been inducted into the Westbrook Baseball Foundation's Legends Monument, a tribute to his years of generous support and steadfast commitment to the program. Few people have given as much to the sport in our city as Don. Through his guidance, his passion for the game, and his deep ties to this community, he has set a standard that few can match. He's earned every bit of his Hall of Fame recognition, and his influence continues to shape the young athletes coming up through the ranks today.

Melissa Remington was honored with the Sally-Alane Fox Award in recognition of her dedicated volunteer work and relentless efforts to grow and strengthen baseball in Westbrook. Whether organizing fundraisers, showing up to support the team, or advocating for our young players, Melissa has been an essential presence. Much of what makes this program run smoothly happens because of the work she does behind the scenes.

We're grateful to both Don and Melissa for everything they've given to Westbrook over the years. Thanks to people like them, our community continues to grow stronger and more connected.

Jimmy Burrill was a legendary Westbrook baseball coach who always believed any player should be given the opportunity to play. Tonight before the last home game, Coach Coulombe and Coach Willette presented Ellen Burrill with a photo of the group that participated in the Little League day at the high school in May.  This picture represents the past, present and future of Westbrook Baseball.  This is a thank you to The Burrill family who made a generous donation so the high school players can continue growing, learning and falling in love with the game of baseball. 

Congratulations to Coach Coulombe and the entire Westbrook High School baseball program on being recognized with the Sportsmanship Award by Maine Principals Association. This honor reflects the values at the heart of the program — integrity, respect, leadership, and a commitment to one another. Westbrook baseball continues to build something special, and the community is proud to support its continued rise.

Spring has arrived at the Westbrook Baseball Legends Monument — and it shows. The monument, which honors the rich history of baseball in our community, is freshly surrounded by a beautiful new planting courtesy of Westbrook Baseball Foundation board member Laura Cook. Colorful spring blooms and neatly shaped shrubs, set against a fresh bed of dark mulch, give this special landmark a look worthy of the legends it represents. A huge thank you to Laura for her time, care, and green thumb. Stop by and take it in — it's a great reminder of how much pride this community takes in its baseball heritage.

Today, our hearts are full as we remember and celebrate a remarkable man who poured his soul into the game and the Westbrook community. Jimmy Burrill — player, coach, and lifelong champion of baseball — touched countless lives and left a mark on this program that will forever shine.

Jimmy’s love for baseball was limitless and inspiring. He saw the game as more than just a sport—it was a way to mold character, foster discipline, and unite our community through joy and shared purpose. For those of us blessed to have known him, his passion lives on in our actions and memories, brightening each day.

In his honor, the Westbrook Baseball Foundation is proud to support the Jimmy Burrill Memorial Baseball Scholarship, ensuring young athletes who share his love of the game can carry his spirit forward.

In March '24, we raised the new flag pole at the Westbrook High School Baseball Field. We can't wait for the sound of 'Play Ball!'

Westbrook Baseball Foundation members and friends worked the ticket booth at Louie Lampron’s Paper City Hoops Classic basketball tournament earlier this month.  It was the 32nd year that Louie had organized the tournament, which ran over three weekends and now offers competition for 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th-grade boys and girls.  That’s a lotta hoops, Louie!
