George Apt Receives the Fox Award

George Apt’s journey began as a coach and manager from 1980 to 1984 before returning to the league as president in 1986, succeeding Jeddy Levasseur. He played a pivotal role in field development, overseeing the completion of Union Field, designing and constructing Volunteer Field, and now spearheading the new American Legion minor league field.

Under Apt’s leadership, the league flourished, with major facility upgrades, including a clubhouse, batting cage, concession stand, and parking lot improvements. On the field, Westbrook secured four state championships and a 2005 Little League World Series appearance while hosting numerous district and state tournaments, solidifying its status as District 6’s premier league.  Beyond administration, Apt remained hands-on, from mowing fields to umpiring games. 

Westbrook Little League dedicated its 2007 season to longtime president George Apt, honoring his 22 years of leadership with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
