Our Mission

Hello,

My name is John Anthony, and I proudly serve as Co-President of the Westbrook Baseball Foundation (WBF), alongside fellow Co-President Don Douglas and Vice President Laura Cook. Our organization currently consists of approximately 20 dedicated members.

Established in 2010, the WBF is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to support young athletes in our baseball community. Our purpose is twofold:

1. To award the Jim Burrill Memorial Baseball Scholarship annually to a graduating senior from the Westbrook High School baseball program. This scholarship honors students who exemplify sportsmanship, academic achievement, and community service.

2. To provide financial and volunteer support that fosters a positive environment for student-athletes across all Westbrook baseball programs.

Since 2011, we’ve proudly awarded over $20,000 in scholarship funds to deserving seniors. The scholarship is presented each year at Senior Awards Night (Class Night) at the high school.

Beyond scholarships, the WBF remains actively engaged in the community. We: Organize announcers, scorekeepers, music, and programs for all home baseball games; Support Westbrook Together Days; Assist with the Paper City Basketball Tournament; and Host an annual Black Friday online auction

One of our most meaningful contributions is the Recognition Stone, located behind the home plate backstop at the high school baseball field. This tribute honors individuals who have made lasting contributions to baseball in Westbrook, with their names proudly engraved for all to see.

We’re honored to continue growing this legacy and supporting the student-athletes of Westbrook.
